Each year Walker’s Legacy is proud to host our Women in Economic Development and Civic Leadership Awards programming in Washington, DC.

This year, in partnership with the National League of CitiesAfrican-American Mayors Association and media partner Axios, we are proud to celebrate the achievements of multicultural women who champion the development of policy and programs to advance economic development, entrepreneurship ecosystems and job opportunities within their local communities.

If you know a woman who is deserving of recognition, we encourage you to nominate an economic development and civic leadership champion today.  Finalists and winners will be invited to attend the 2018 Walker’s Legacy Women in Business and Civic Leadership reception to be held in Washington, DC on Thursday, September 13, 2018, for an awards luncheon.  Nominations will close June 15, 2018.

Eligible women must work for federal, state, or local governments, economic development-focused nonprofit organizations (chambers of commerce, community/economic development corporations), micro-finance institutions or public-private partnerships.   For-profit businesses or non-economic development related nonprofit organizations are not eligible but may be eligible for the 2018 Power Awards (nominations open in June)

Due to the volume of nominations, nominators will not be notified of the status of their nominations.  Honorees will be notified in mid to late July 2018.  Travel and lodging in Washington, DC will not be covered by Walker’s Legacy.  All awardees will receive complimentary admission to the awards luncheon for themselves and a guest.
