What do you want your legacy to be?

[space]

I have had amazing female role models in my life who have continually blessed me with their advice and support. I am a strong believer in ‘to whom much is given, much if required,’ so I feel a duty to continue that legacy of uplifting the next generation particularly of women of color. I am achieving that by being a role model and by proving that women, regardless of their age, can add value. Professionally I am blessed to be able to  support and build global community programs to address social issues that negatively impact women’s ability to achieve high standards of excellence in any area (i.e. business, science, education, family).

What woman entrepreneur has been the greatest source of inspiration and why?

I have always been a huge admirer of Ida B. Wells. I was inspired by her at a very young age because of her persistence and conviction. As a writer and communicator I was impressed by how she was able to leverage the power of a pen (and in her case a paper)to not only document history but CHANGE history. Ida B Wells showed me that courage is not always immediately rewarded but in the long run it is a sign of progress. When I am not a little afraid, I am not being challenged.  Increasingly in life, decisions become more shades of gray and having a strong moral compass and sense of purpose is truly what separates leaders from the pack.
