Indian American Anuja Rejandra recently made headlines in Michigan as one of few multicultural women running for statewide office when she announced her bid for the Michigan Senate.

Rejendra, who is running on the Democratic ticket, is seeking election to the 18th District Senate seat in the upcoming 2018 election.

The University of Michigan double alum graduated with a degree in engineering later going on to receive her MBA from the Ross School of Business.   Putting her business acumen to work, Rajendra currently serves as the founder and CEO of BollyFit – an Ann Arbor-based fitness and dance studio.

Previously Rejendra, served as the development director of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival.    She is a current mentor for Walker’s Legacy to assist women entrepreneurs and an ambassador for UM’s LEAD Scholars Program to support diversity and minorities.
